The Company
North Eastern Services is a successful community service agency with hundreds of employees. Contracting with the Division of Services for People with Disabilities, its mission is to support opportunities for people to achieve independence, enhance self esteem, and sustain a full quality life. What a great place to work!
The Problem
We had a somewhat capable Access database that we moved online several years ago. On top of that, we had other Access databases and Excel spreadsheets in different places on our internal network. We really had pieces all over the place.
It became outdated quickly. Even things as simple as recording when an employee completed training or updating company files…these basic needs required more programming. It wasn’t customizable or as flexible as we needed it to be. The other spreadsheets were a mess because only one person could access them at a time and they had to be in our main office. It took too long to get things done.
We have several offices statewide, so having files on a network in our main office didn’t work for obvious reasons. We need all offices to access our systems so our directors and managers can do their jobs without waiting several days or weeks for a report or other needs. These inefficiencies distracted us from our true mission.
The Solution
BambooHR was an easy choice, really, but here are a few quick reasons. We do a ton of training, so the ability to add and remove training completions and requirements alone saved us hours of paperwork. We never have to worry about something crashing, losing data or records, and I don’t have to hire some expensive IT guy to do anything for me. All offices have access to the same data any time, so we’ve eliminated a lot of duplicate entry and there have been a big reduction errors, which cost money. Best of all, these guys just keep getting better. Seems like every week or so they add something that helps us go faster or be better.
It was a piece of cake to switch. We obviously spent a little time putting some data together, but it was time well spent and we were up and running quickly. They also helped us streamline a few other processes, which was a bonus. We’ll never looked back.

In our industry, administrative tasks are burdensome but necessary. But that doesn’t mean can’t leverage technology like BambooHR. It makes our lives easier and saves us time.
