I’m going to ask you a couple questions, but before I do, I need you to promise that you’ll be completely honest. Promise? Okay, good. If anonymity was guaranteed, what would your employees say about your company as an employer? What about the candidates and potential candidates you’re trying to recruit? What would they say?
Your employer brand is how you are truthfully perceived as an employer by employees, candidates and potential candidates. And as Lars Schmidt put it, “Having a strong employer brand is no longer a luxury, it’s an imperative.” After all, with a strong employer brand, you’re getting better candidates and more of them. In turn, you’re finding top talent that will push your company from good to great, and you’re improving recruitment costs by up to 50 percent. Without a strong employer brand you’re . . . well, let’s just make sure we have strong employer brands.
More and more HR professionals are required to head up their company’s employer brand effort—and for good reason. Candidates spend less than a minute deciding if a job opening is right for them. What this means is that recruiting efforts begin long before a job opening is posted, and the competition to stand out as an employer is ratcheting up every day. So, how confident are you in your employer brand?
No matter how confident you are, there’s always room for improvement.
