BambooHR partnered with Clair to offer On-Demand Pay to your employees. On-Demand Pay is included free with your BambooHR subscription plan.
On-Demand Pay allows qualified employees to advance a portion of their earned but unpaid wages, and you don’t have to lift a finger to offer it. There’s no interest, credit checks, or required fees.

On-Demand Pay does not affect employee credit scores in any way. Clair does not require credit checks for eligibility, and unpaid advances are not reported to credit bureaus.
Employee usage information is kept private. Clair does not share details with employers about which employees use On-Demand Pay or how much they access.
Access and eligibility
On-Demand Pay is available when employees need it, but they’re free to choose whether or not to use the service based on their individual financial needs and preferences. Eligibility is subject to criteria, including identity verification; it is typically available for hourly and salaried roles.
Once enrolled, a portion of the employee’s earnings each pay cycle will be eligible to advance. Clair handles repayments automatically from paychecks; employers are not responsible for unpaid advances. Unpaid advances do not affect employee credit scores and incur no late fees.

How do I qualify as a company to offer On-Demand Pay?
On-Demand Pay is available on all BambooHR plans. This feature will be available to all eligible employees unless you choose to opt out of this financial benefit.
Does offering On-Demand Pay affect my payroll?
No, On-Demand Pay does not affect your payroll process at all. Clair handles advances independently through its banking partner, which means there’s no change to how you run payroll. You’re never responsible for funding advances or collecting repayments, including in the event that an employee leaves.
How much do I have to pay for this service?
Clair partners directly with BambooHR to provide On-Demand Pay as a free benefit that businesses can offer to their employees. There is no charge for employers offering the service.
Employees can take a standard advance for no cost or, if they choose, advance their money instantly for a $4.99 fee per transaction.*
How do I allow my employees to use Clair?
Clair partners with BambooHR to provide an embedded solution that offers On-Demand Pay directly to employees on their home page. With this embedded experience, employees can access earned wage advances without any impact on payroll or HR teams—no work needed on your end.
Although businesses retain the right to opt out of providing Clair’s services to their employees, no action is required from employers to provide On-Demand Pay to their employees.
Do my employees have to use this?
On-Demand Pay is not a requirement for any employee. It is a optional benefit that BambooHR provides as a solution to both employers and employees for their financial well-being. Not everyone will need or use this benefit, but it is there for those who need it, when they need it.
If you’d like to opt out of offering On-Demand Pay to your employees, you can do so by going to your App Settings and selecting “Turn Off.”
What happens if my employees don’t pay back their advances?
If an employee does not repay advances by the due date, they will be unable to request another advance until their balance is repaid. Clair does not charge late fees, and an unpaid advance does not impact their credit score. The employee can repay at any time to regain access to On-Demand Pay.
Employers are not responsible for any advances, paid or unpaid even when the employee no longer works at the company.
Will all my employees be eligible for this service?
All advances are subject to eligibility criteria and application review. Eligibility depends on a variety of factors, including identity verification, state of residence, and other factors as mandated by consumer financial regulations. Employees must be at least 18 years old and reside in the United States in a state in which Clair operates. On-Demand Pay is currently unavailable in Nevada, Connecticut, New Mexico, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Massachusetts.
Where can my employees access this?
If they are eligible, employees can take an advance on mobile or desktop by accessing On-Demand Pay from their BambooHR home page.
How much money can my employees advance?
Employees who qualify can access up to $200 per pay period, and with consistent on-time repayments, may see their advance limits grow. On-time repayments are a key factor in additional limits, not just the repayment itself.
