About Your Role

  • Greet patients upon arrival and provide a welcoming environment
  • Document patient care and services in their medical records
  • Take and document patient vitals, such as blood pressure, height and weight, heart rate, and perform routine nursing tasks to get a patient ready for a physician consultation
  • Organize patient documents and manage form intake, including consents and billing forms
  • Gather patient details, including changes in their medical history or specific concerns they’d like to discuss with a physician
  • Ensure patient confidentiality at all times
  • Contact patients with appointment reminders and manage schedule changes
  • Review the patient roster each morning and manage the flow of appointments throughout the day
  • Communicate with patients in the waiting room by answering questions about billing, documentation, or unforeseen delays
  • Use compassion when handling patient emotions, such as their impatience in the waiting room or emotional responses to medical diagnoses, and discuss situations with senior staff to see that it’s within facility guidelines
  • Support patient discharge, including follow-up appointment scheduling and collecting the co-payment or coinsurance
  • Communicate with the medical staff regarding diagnoses, medical charts, and medical codes
  • Prepare the patient rooms for examination based on provider preferences and the purpose of the visit
  • Restock supplies, maintain clean work areas, and manage room changeover throughout the day
  • Identify areas that may slow down facility operations, from misplaced forms to staff shortages, and proactively provide solutions
  • Use clinical equipment as requested, within the policy guidelines
  • Monitor equipment and perform quality checks to ensure that all equipment performs as needed during operating hours
  • Act as a liaison between the patients and providers
  • Assist in any emergency care if needed
  • Provide excellent customer service to the staff and patients throughout the day
