About Your Role

We rely on you to perform many of the same responsibilities as a medical doctor, such as providing expertise and guidance to patients, overseeing medical staff, and partnering with supervising physicians to deliver the highest standard patient care.

Physician assistants practice medicine and perform key functions within our facility, including:

  • Gathering patient information and health histories for documentation in the patient records
  • Preparing admission reports
  • Performing routine physical examinations and diagnostic tests
  • Ordering follow-up procedures or treatments, including lab tests and X-rays, also providing recommendations and referrals for occupational or physical therapies
  • Evaluate and interpret lab tests, medical charts, and other patient history documentation
  • Operate patient monitoring systems, such as ECGs, then interpret and communicate results
  • Diagnose patients and provide recommendations on a treatment
  • Perform splinting or casting for injuries
  • Manage patient health concerns and issues with consideration and patience
  • Provide preventative medicine recommendations and guidance on long-term health, including non-judgmental suggestions on lifestyle changes
  • Perform nursing or medical assistant duties as needed to fill in shortages, including taking vitals and administering vaccinations, immunizations, or blood draws
  • Provide clear and compassionate guidance to patients regarding their diagnosis and treatments
  • Support patients with follow-up appointments as they’re needed
  • Refer patients to other practitioners and doctors within the health system for specialized care
  • Perform approved minor surgeries and medical procedures
  • Act as first or second assistant in major scheduled surgeries, and support post-op procedures and patient care
  • Review the daily schedule and support efficient patient flow
  • Provide managerial oversight, supervising, observing, and/or coaching the assistants, trainees, and advanced practice clinicians
  • Order medications and prescriptions as authorized by a physician
  • Maintain meticulous notes and medical records
  • Comply with all licensing, certification, and continuing education requirements

What You'll Need to Get the Job Done
