Discontinuing the BambooHR Google Chrome Extension

At BambooHR, we take the security of your employee data very seriously. As part of our ongoing effort to keep your employee data as secure as possible, we’ve discontinued support of the BambooHR Directory Chrome extension.

Why have we discontinued support of the BambooHR Directory Chrome extension?

When employees leave your organization, they lose access to BambooHR. However, if they had the BambooHR Directory Chrome extension installed on a personal computer they’d still be able to access the most recent employee directory as of their last day. While there’s little if anything malicious that could be done with access alone, we didn’t like the idea of former employees retaining access to any of your HR data.

What do I need to do?

Absolutely nothing. Access to the employee directory in Chrome is now turned off.

What if I still need quick access to my employee directory?

No worries at all, there’s an alternative that makes accessing your employee directory just as quick and easy.

For continued quick access to the employee directory, go to the People tab of your BambooHR account, click on the “Quick access to the directory” link in the upper right-hand corner of your screen, and bookmark the new tab that’s created. It’s that easy!
