Double-Blind Performance Reviews

Creating review cycles that fit your organization's review philosophy just got easier. A new double-blind setting gives you more control over how manager and employee assessments are completed, making it easier to support different performance review processes without changing the employee experience.

What's new

You can now choose whether managers can view an employee's completed self-assessment before submitting their own manager assessment.

By default, the double-blind setting is turned on, preserving the current experience where neither managers nor employees can view each other's responses until both assessments have been submitted.

If you turn the setting off, managers can review an employee's completed self-assessment before completing their manager assessment. Employees will continue to have the same review experience regardless of which option you choose.

What you'll see

When creating or editing a performance review cycle, you'll find the new double-blind toggle in the Questions section of the assessment setup.

If the setting is turned off, managers will also receive an updated email after an employee completes their self-assessment, letting them know they can now review the employee's responses and complete their manager assessment.

What you can do

Review your organization's performance review process and decide whether managers should complete their assessments independently or have the option to reference employee self-assessments first. The setting can be configured when creating or editing a review cycle.
