Workers' Comp Set-Up & Management

BambooHR is excited to release the integration of Workers’ Compensation (workers’ comp) set-up and management directly within BambooHR, streamlining the process for our payroll customers. This update moves the company setup and management of Workers’ Comp codes and rates from TRAXPayroll to BambooHR, providing an all-in-one experience. This enhancement also includes several improvements to make Workers’ Comp reporting easier and more helpful. Check it out:

New ‘Workers’ Comp’ Section in Settings:
Navigation: Settings > Payroll > Workers’ Comp
Within the Workers’ Comp Settings page, you can add and manage codes and rates, view active/inactive codes, and access rate history.
Access: Users with permissions for the Settings > Payroll section will have access to the Workers’ Comp section; however, only users with Run Payroll permissions for a specific payroll account (EIN-specific Payroll Access) will be able to view Workers’ Comp data and set up or manage it (add new or edit) in Settings.

Add Workers’ Comp Modal:
Navigation: Accessed via the ‘Add Workers’ Comp’ button in the Workers’ Comp section.
Combine the addition of Workers’ Comp code and rate into one action, designate a state for the code, and set employer and employee rates. All fields marked with an asterisk are required.

Rate History and Edit Rate Modals:
Navigation: Accessed by selecting the ‘Rate History’ or ‘Edit’ icons upon row hover in the Workers’ Comp table.
These new modals are designed to allow you to view historical rates, and add new/edit existing rates

Employee Workers’ Comp Assignment Improvements:
You can assign employees to a worker’s comp individually on their Job tab or in bulk via the Power Edit tool.

Workers’ Compensation Reports Updates:
Navigation: Reports > Payroll Reports > Date Range Reports > Worker’s Compensation Estimate or Worker’s Compensation Salary List.
New state assignment, state tax withholding, and state unemployment insurance information have been added to the Worker’s Compensation Salary List report and the Worker’s Compensation Estimate report. Enhanced reporting capabilities and state-specific designations ensure precise tracking and compliance with state regulations.

Note: Washington (WA) State Workers’ Comp setup and management will continue to be handled within the WA L&I tax under the Settings > Payroll > Company Tax page.
