How is my company's data kept private and anonymous in HR Benchmarks?
Benchmarking data is completely anonymized and aggregated, so there's no identifying information in your data or the data from the tens of thousands of other companies in BambooHR. To further protect anonymity, benchmark data for any specific comparison group (e.g., industry or company size) is only displayed if there are at least five companies included in that group.
Can other companies see my specific company's data through HR Benchmarks?
No. Individual company data is never identifiable to other companies. Benchmarks are always presented as aggregated trends from a group of anonymized companies. Your specific data remains anonymous.
Which companies' data is included in benchmark comparisons?
Anonymized data from all BambooHR subscriber accounts are included by default in aggregated benchmarking data unless a company explicitly chooses to opt out.
What happens if I opt my company out of contributing data to HR Benchmarks?
If you choose to opt your company's data out, it will not be included in any future benchmarking calculations. If you opt out, your company will no longer have access to the HR Benchmarks feature. Data that was part of calculations before opting out is not retroactively removed. It remains in historical, anonymized datasets.
What if my company is unique or in a very small industry or size category? Will my data be exposed if I use custom benchmark filters?
No, your data will not be exposed. To protect the anonymity of all our customers, benchmark data will only be displayed if the resulting comparison group contains at least five companies. If your selected filters for a custom benchmark group result in fewer than five companies, BambooHR will not return any benchmark results for that specific view.
