When I was fifteen, I got my learner’s permit to drive. My emotions were mixed. On the one hand, I was super excited to drive to school on my own, pick my friends up on the way, and have the freedom to go anywhere I chose. While at the same time, I was terrified I wasn’t quite ready for such a huge responsibility. Really, the only thing separating my car from the car driving 60 miles per hour in the opposite direction was a painted line. That’s scary! Sometimes change can be frustrating (especially if you’re learning how to drive on a manual as I was) and hard at first. But it’s worth it because in the end, you get so much more.
Recently, we revamped BambooHR’s reporting feature to give you a lot more flexibility. It will seem new and different—and may require a little test-driving—but after you click around and take the new features for a spin, you’ll love how you can manage reporting. After all, one of the perks of using software-as-a-service (SaaS) is continual updates and improvements. Our new reporting features will improve the way you create and store reports.
Looks aren’t everything, but the new design is probably what you’ll notice first. So while the new reporting feature is still beautiful, things may be parked in different spaces. Now, you will find lots of good stuff clumped together on the left-hand side.
What used to be called “Report Library” is now called “Standard Reports.” Just click on Standard Reports, and you’ll see the same library of standard reports you’ve been using for years.
When you click “My Reports,” you’ll find all the custom reports you created. Any custom report from the past—before reporting’s beautiful new design was created–will be stored here as well.
Categorize in Folders
You can add folders to make it easy for you to categorize and store the reports you create. Just click the “Add Folder” button, name your new folder, and you’re ready to start bringing in reports.
You can now share your reports with other people. Just click to share, specify who you’d like to share the report with, and it will appear in that person’s “Shared With Me” folder. Likewise, you will be able to see any reports others have shared with you in your “Shared with Me” folder.
You can now drag-and-drop a custom report into the folder where you’d like to keep it for simple organizing. Remember, there will always be a copy of that same report you just dropped into a folder in your My Reports folder.
You can use the search box when you’re creating a new report. When you enter a keyword, it filters out reports that do not contain the keyword and singles out those that fit the criteria you specify.
It’s funny when I think back on how scared I was the first time I sat behind the steering wheel of a car. But now, driving is just a normal part of life—I drive everywhere! Can you imagine life if you never tried something new?
